Was wonderful to have our RYLA 2024 participant Tonii Ruiterman with her Mum Kirsten at our meeting this morning as our guest speaker.
Tonii loved RYLA with the exception of the morning PT classes as everything became sore by the end of the week. Her favourite part was solving riddles in some of the challenges & she learnt a lot about herself in the process. With all her Girl Guide camps away from home, she never experienced being homesick, until now. The positive from this, is she can now relate to the Brownies & Guides she looks after at their camps, as can now relate & share personal stories with them.
Her major takeaway from RYLA was she needs to back herself, as she can do it, so to have more trust in herself. Also believing when you know something isn't right. This has lead her getting out of a negative flatting experience, to moving back home, which her Mum was very happy about!
Tonii has now put her name down to help with future RYLA & RYPEN camps, which just shows the person she is. Club very proud to see her return a some what calmer & more confident young woman.
